Smart Importer for Loading Data
Our Smart Importer was developed to make initial loading of !Trak-It HR
as fast and easy as possible. Every new user of an HR system is faced
with the challenge of, "How do I get my existing data into !Trak-It
HR?" The concept of the Smart Importer is really very simple. When you
are ready to import your existing data into HR, you make a selection on
the HR Import menu which generates a .csv template. You then open this
.csv file in Excel and use it to move your existing HR data into the
appropriate columns, filling in as much data as you can and leaving the
rest blank. When complete you save the .csv file, go back into HR and
import the modified .csv file and presto, your data is imported.
As part of the import process the Smart Importer validates the data as
it is processed. For instance, if it finds a duplicate employee number
it will not import the new record but instead create a log file telling
you which employee numbers were duplicates. It also validates your
incoming data against your code tables. There are almost 100 different
data elements that are checked. In the case of user defined fields, if
the incoming value is not already in the code table the Smart Importer
will add it and tell you which items were added to which code table.
For required fields that are empty, the Smart Importer will fill it
with a default value. So when you are done using the Smart Importer you
will have an HR system that is ready to use in a jiffy.
The Smart Importer imports data into the main employee screen,
job screen, skills, attendance records and code tables. The Smart
Importer is just another example of why !Trak-It HR is the friendliest
HR software today.
